STRANGER DANGER

As we say good bye to cold and blustery winter, we welcome the warm sunny days. That usually means we and our youngsters can enjoy fun times outdoors. But before you reach for your sunblock, or allergy medication, please take a moment to remember the #1 thing to do for your child's protection,
REMIND THEM OF STRANGER DANGER. 
This is a good time to discuss with your kids (at the appropriate age level) what to do if a stranger approaches. Make sure your child knows that "bad guys" can be tricky, so it's best not to talk to them - and NEVER go near their car, or TRUCK. Make sure they know of the safe homes close by that they can run to for help if needed. Please be aware, and remember
supervision = protection.

Then Clean the Bay Day 2010 is the day to do it in King's Grant!
WHY? Because we all live, work, and play on the Lynnhaven River and Chesapeake Bay.  Our neighborhood is literally the last line of defense when it comes to keeping pollutants out of our precious waterways.

    1. Meet at King's Grant Elementary School  at 8:30 AM
    2. Kids, please bring an adult chaperone
  2. Clean Up!
    1. You will be provided with trash bags, orange safety vests, bug spray and water.  BRING YOUR OWN GLOVES!  Canvas are best.
    2. You will be assembled into teams and given a clean up route
    3. Your team will walk your route filling up trash bags
    4. We will come around and collect the trash bags

As always participation in Teacher Appreciation Day is voluntary for our students and families. 
Thanks for all you will do to recognize our teachers on May 4, 2010 .

Student Hours for March and April:

Grades 1-5: 8:30 a.m. - 3:20 p.m.

Morning Kindergarten: 8:30 - 11:50 a.m.
Afternoon Kindergarten: 12:00 - 3:20 p.m.

** Instructional make up time for Inclement weather February 1 and 2

  • All transportation changes must be in writing! You may e-mail the school at elizabeth.apel@vbschools.com
    or fax it to 431-4092
  • Please observe the following procedure when sending
    out any correspondence via students : Your notice/flyer must be approved by
    both PRINCIPAL and PTA PRESIDENT.  Anything that goes home in the Thursday folders should be placed in teachers' boxes no later than Wednesday at noon. Also, be sure to let the office know when you are putting anything in boxes for distribution.
